It is so easy to believe someone when they tell you exactly what you want to hear. When a person shows you who they really are, believe them the first time. Some people are only nice for their own convenience. You have to distance yourself from these people otherwise they will hang around as long as you let them. The type of people who only call when they need something or come around when it's beneficial to them.  Not everyone has your best interests at heart. I think that one of the biggest reason why relationships do not work out in the long run is because at one point, one side (or both) stops trying. Before one claims another person as their significant other, they would do anything to make that person happy. They would chase, they would flirt, they would be charming. They would send daily morning and goodnight texts every time you wake up or go to sleep. They would write corny messages and pick up lines just to make sure that there is a smile upon your face. But once they claim you as theirs, all of those things eventually stop. The 5 page texts slowly turn into 1. The constant calls turn into not calling at all. And the lovely endearments turn into daily arguments. In order for a relationship to work, don’t ever stop chasing. Just because the person you want is now consider “yours”, it does not mean they deserve anything less than the time when you’re trying to win them over.... Never. Stop. Chasing

Validation. We all need validation, for someone to tell us that we are doing well, that we are doing the right thing and are on the right path. The problem is we look for that validation in the wrong place. We seek external validation from friends, family, teachers etc but we need to turn that need inwards and validate ourselves. We need to trust our own instincts and know what we are doing is the right thing for ourselves. We also need to congratulate and applaud ourselves for our achievements. Yes it is nice to receive recognition from other people but let that be the icing on the cake. You need to be the cake. You are the foundation. You need to believe it first otherwise you give far too much power to other people who may not always have your best interests at heart and if you do not really believe it yourself when you hear it from others you will be incapable of accepting it. Have a unrelenting belief that things will work out, that the long road has a purpose, that the things that you desire may not happen today, but they will happen.
